KABUL (Pajhwok): About 1,100 tonnes of pine nuts worth 14 million US dollars have been exported in past 11 months, an official said on Saturday.
In a video clip, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), said: “Afghanistan exported 1,100 tonnes of pine nuts worth over $14 million in the current solar.”
Akhundzada Abdul Salam Javad added the pine nuts were exported to Austria, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, the US, Italy, Australia, Germany, Pakistan, Turkey, China and other countries.
Afghanistan produces at least 35,000 tonnes of pine nuts annually, with a total estimated value exceeding $800 million. These nuts are sold both in domestic and international markets.
