A dozen Afghan refugees freed from Sindh jails

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan consul general in Pakistan’s Karachi city says 12 refugees have been released from different jails in Sindh province.

In a video clip, Consul General Abdul Jabbar Takhari said the released individuals returned to their homeland vial the Spin Boldak-Chaman crossing.

A small number of Afghans were still imprisoned in Sindh and efforts were being made for their release, Takhari said.

Despite the Pakistani government’s announcement to deport undocumented migrants, Afghans in Sindh province faced no problems, he added.

Over the past three months, he said, 64 Afghan prisoners including two women and seven children had been freed from different Sindh jails.

On March 3, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) had announced the release of 47 Afghan nationals from prisons in Pakistan and their subsequent return to Afghanistan.
