CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A more than 18 kilometers of road is being reconstructed and widened at a cost of 21 million afghanis in Kafshan Valley of central Parwan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Head of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Mullah Abdul Samad Sadiq told Pajhwok Afghan News the six-meter-wide road was being reconstructed by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
He said culverts and retaining walls along the road would also be built on a substantial scale.
In this project, six excavators are working on the road widening section and that work has been provided for dozens of residents, he added.
According to the director, more than 8,000 families would benefit from this project and 20 villages would be connected.
The Kafshan Valley is one of the inaccessible areas of Shinwari District, whose residents previously suffered from the lack of a standard road.
“There was a narrow road that needed repair. Small cars could not travel and people were facing a lot of problems,” Haji Jan Mohammad, an elder of the valley told Pajhwok.
He said the road should be built as a matter of principle because a large population lived in the area.
