Afghanistan, Pakistan to maintain ceasefire; next talks set for Nov. 6: Türkiye

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to maintain their ceasefire and will hold another round of senior-level talks in Istanbul next week, according to a joint statement from Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement said representatives from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Qatar met in Istanbul from October 25 to 30, 2025, to strengthen the ceasefire agreement reached earlier this month in Doha under the mediation of Türkiye and Qatar.

“All parties have agreed on the continuation of the ceasefire,” the statement said, adding that the modalities for its implementation will be discussed and finalized during a principal-level meeting in Istanbul on November 6.

It noted that the parties also agreed to establish a monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure the maintenance of peace and impose penalties on any side violating the agreement.

Türkiye and Qatar, as mediators, expressed appreciation for the active participation of both Afghanistan and Pakistan and reaffirmed their readiness to continue facilitating dialogue for lasting peace and stability in the region.
