KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 307 Afghans were released from Pakistani prisons and returned to the country during the current week, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry said that of the total, 268 individuals returned via the Torkham crossing and 39 via Spin Boldak.
The statement added that the individuals were detained for lacking legal documents and were later registered, provided humanitarian assistance, and transferred to their respective provinces of origin.
Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said two days ago that a total of 174,972 Afghans returned to Afghanistan in the first three months of the current year, of whom 89 percent returned voluntarily and 11 percent were forcibly deported.
