KABUL (Pajhwok): Ahmed Kazanci, a 25-year-old Turkish national, after joining Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) in Pakistan, worked in the group’s Turkish-language propaganda unit in Balochistan before being arrested and transferred to Türkiye.
Turkish newspaper Kısa Dalga reported that Kazanci, who was detained by Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), said he had worked in the media wing of ISKP in the mountainous areas of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, producing propaganda materials in Turkish.
According to the report, during police interrogation Kazanci said he did not take part in any armed operations and was assigned solely to ISKP’s media unit.
He added that his role was limited to producing written and promotional content for the group in Turkish.
The report stated that Kazanci later decided to leave the group due to difficult living conditions and homesickness, but was detained by MIT while attempting to return from Balochistan and subsequently transferred back to Türkiye.
Kısa Dalga reported that investigations into Kazanci’s role in producing and disseminating ISKP propaganda are ongoing, and he has since been sentenced to prison by a court in Türkiye.
