KABUL (Pajhwok): A total of 599 Afghan families, comprising 3,390 people, returned to the country through four crossings, the High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Problems said on Thursday.
In its daily report, shared by Islamic Emirate deputy spokesman Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat on X, the commission said 583 families, comprising 3,224 people, were transported to their home provinces, while 639 families received cash assistance and other essential support.
According to the report, 482 families, comprising 2,841 people, returned through the Torkham crossing. Of them, 455 families were transported to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul provinces, with more than 1.779 million afghanis provided for transportation.
The commission said 567 families at Torkham received more than 4.702 million afghanis in cash assistance. Healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari camp.
The report said 49 families, comprising 274 people, returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.
Thirty-three families were transported to different provinces, with more than 489,000 afghanis allocated for transportation, while all 49 families received a total of 426,000 afghanis in cash assistance. Food, healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided.
In Nimroz province, 48 families, comprising 204 people, returned through the Pul-i-Abrisham crossing, along with 1,002 individual travellers. Three families received 20,000 afghanis in cash assistance, while 611 people were provided healthcare services.
Meanwhile, 20 families, comprising 71 people, returned through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat province, where they received a total of 144,000 afghanis in cash assistance.
The report also said the Transport Committee in Kabul transferred 95 families, comprising 507 people, to various provinces and paid more than 398,000 afghanis to cover their transportation costs.
