Kunduz displaced families want early repatriation

KUNDUZ (Pajhwok): More than 2,000 families in northern Kunduz province displaced from heavy fighting demanded the government to ensure their immediate return with assistance to their homes.

The families had been displaced since last three weeks after security forces launched clearing operations to purge Imam Saheb district of militants.

Most of the families were shifted to Dasht Archi, Khwaja Ghar districts and Kunduz city.

Mirza Abdul Rahi, a displaced person, told Pajhwok Afghan News he could manage to keep his eight family members safe while he left everything behind. He said his family was living in rented house in miserable condition.

Rahmat Baig, another displaced man, said he was waiting to go back to his home. “Every day, we go out for work but it is difficult rather impossible to find work. Feeding our large family in this state is difficult.”

Amanuddin Quraishi, the Imam Saheb district chief, acknowledged problems haunted displaced families but efforts were on to provide them with aid and assistance.
