GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Residents of Jaghori district in southern Ghazni province have undertaken a commendable initiative of constructing a $150,000 hospital building on a self-help basis.
Mustafa Mosawi, a tribal elder from Jaghori, told Pajhwok Afghan News the construction of the hospital in Sang Shanda area was aimed at addressing the residents’ healthcare needs.
The health centre, being built on half an acre of land, will be a two-story structure equipped with two salons, 16 rooms, surgical facilities, gynecology services, a children’s ward, a laboratory and other departments.
Mosawi estimated the project's total cost would exceed $150,000, an amount generously pooled by local residents and Afghan expatriates.
Abbas Mohammadi, another resident, highlighted the significant impact the hospital would have on improving healthcare accessibility in the area.
He lamented the problems being faced by patients due to the absence of a hospital in the area and the bumpy condition of roads leading to such facilities elsewhere.
Hujatullah, spokesman for the Public Health Department, confirmed to Pajhwok the private funding of the health centre in Sang Shanda area.
He assured the department's full support, affirming their commitment to assistance in the completion of this important healthcare facility.
