KABUL (Pajhwok): Work on some public welfare projects has been launched with the World Bank’s 40 million afghanis assistance in central Parwan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director Mullah Abdul Samad Sadiq told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects included construction of a 10-kilometer long and four-kilometer wide road, 1,050 meters long and three meters high retaining and protective walls, 332 meters of sidewalks in Chap Qol and Chinara villages, an eight meter long, four meter wide motor bridge, and 650 meters of agricultural water canals in Qol Hocha, Saye and Tehreeqo villages.
According to him, a total of 4,000 families will benefit from these projects.
He said the projects will be implemented within six months by the ACTID organization, with assistance of 40 million afghanis from the World Bank, within the framework of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department.
Local residents are happy with the start of these projects.
Mohammad Salim, a resident of Chap Qol village, welcomed the construction of the road and said it would help farmers transport their agricultural products, including apricots, to the market on time.
