ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Taliban launched coordinated attacks on security forces in 12 districts of eastern Kunar province, which were repulsed by Afghan forces leaving 11 militants dead and wounded on Friday, provincial police chief said.
Abdul Habib Sayedkhel, police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that three militants were killed and eight others wounded in attack on Afghan Local Police (ALP) check posts.
One ALP man and an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier and three civilians were wounded in the firefight, he added.
He said police had the capability to retaliate every attack of the enemy and to protect civilians from attacks.
Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News three militants had been wounded in the attacks.
It merits mention that Taliban’s spring offensive codenamed Azm (Determination) would start from today (Friday) afternoon.
