TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Officials of the agriculture department of central Uruzgan province say recent war and ongoing drought had damaged 70 percent of the province's crops.
Although Uruzgan is an agricultural province with 90 percent of its population engaged in agriculture, drought and past wars have left hundreds of hectares of the province uncultivated.
Qudratullah Hamidi, director of agricultural information at the Uruzgan Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the province's agricultural yields had dropped by 70 per cent, leaving farmers and people in poverty.
