Turkey donated 100 tons of improved wheat seed to Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Turkey’s deputy ambassador to Afghanistan provided 100 metric tons of improved wheat seed in assistance to the Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock and said his country is ready to provide more humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Mulavi Abdul Rahman Rashed, acting agriculture minister, said today at a ceremony while receiving the wheat, that 70 percent of Afghans were engaged in agriculture activities and that the improved seeds donated by Turkey’s IHH foundation would help the farming sector of the country.

He said that the Turkish Humanitarian Aid Foundation (IHH) has helped the Afghan people and farmers in difficult situations, which showed Turkey’s good relations with the people of Afghanistan.

He asked for more international aid to Afghanistan, and said that international aid which provided to Afghans and frozen in foreign banks should be freed.

Rashed added that security situation in Afghanistan was now stable and foreign countries were able to distribute their assistance in the country without any threats.

“We assure that we have eradicated corruption and the humanitarian aid of foreign countries will be distributed to the people in need,” he said.

Sami Lutfu Turgut, Turkey’s deputy ambassador to Kabul, said that the Afghan people needed more aid at the moment and that his country was ready to provide more humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

He also called on other Turkish charities to help Afghanistan in the current difficult situation.

Husein Oruch, deputy director of IHH said that the foundation was established 20 years ago and it provided most of its aid to Bosnia, Kashmir and Afghanistan.

He added that the foundation will provide more assistance to Afghanistan in the future.
