Ghor agriculture suffer due to lack of cold storages

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): A number of farmers in western Ghor province have complained about the lack of cold storages and urged the government to address the problem.

The growers urged officials of Agriculture Department to build more cold storages so that they can store their crops for longer time.

Ghulam Nabi, a farmer in the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he had been working as a farmer for more than ten years, during the period most crops such as onions, potatoes, apples and others devastated due to lack of standard cold storages.

Rozuddin, another farmer in Ghor province, said they could not afford to build cold storage and needed serious help in this regard.

Zabihullah, an expert on agricultural affairs in Ghor, said: "Generally, the temperature is controlled in cold storages, so that the farmers' crops are not spoiled and destroyed. This allows the farmers to store their harvest for a long time.”
