PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): After a month-long halt, the passport distribution process resumed in central Logar province on Monday, an official said.
Police spokesman Ahmadullah Anas told Pajhwok Afghan News the distribution of passports restarted on Monday morning.
He said: “Passport distribution was halted a month ago as a result of technical issues. It has now resumed under a new procedure.
He explained passport seekers would have to process their applications in their respective districts before they approached the police headquarters.
The police spokesman added the department concerned was capable of distributing 80 passports on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, residents voiced their happiness over the resumption of passport distribution and demand facilities for applicants.
Abdullah, a resident of Pul-i-Alam, told Pajhwok that passport was the right of every Afghan. But the government halted the distribution process under different pretexts, he alleged.
He added the government’s duty was to provide all possible services to the people and ensure facilities in this regard.
Abdul Jabbar, hailing from Mohammad Agha district, told Pajhwok people wanted to obtain passports to meet their needs and the process had been halted due to technical issues.
With a large number of applicants waiting, he urged the relevant authorities to accelerate the passport distribution drive.
