MEHTHERLAM (Pajhwok): The director of agriculture, irrigation and livestock says fruits orchards have been established on 245 acres of land in eastern Laghman province.
Maulvi Wali Mohammad Hassan said the orchards were built over the last seven months of the previous year with cooperation from Roots of Peace.
Syed Taah, Roots of Peace head in Laghman, told Pajhwok Afghan News each gardener had been provided with 75 kilograms of two types of fertilizer.
He added work opportunities had been provided for 253 growers from Mehtharlam, the provincial capital, and Qarghayee district with a view to alleviating poverty.
