FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A number of farmers in western Farah province say imports of Iranian products have affected the market for locally-produced vegetables.
They say now is the time to harvest tomatoes in Farah, but the local market is already flooded with Iranian tomatoes.
Abdul Hakim Hakimi, who has cultivated the vegetable in his greenhouse, said: “Our tomatoes have ripened but the market is full of Iranian tomatoes. Thus our crop is going to be harmed.”
He urged the government to support domestic products and find a market for them; otherwise, local farmers would suffer financially.
