KABUL (Pajhwok): Medical experts term Covid-19 booster shots as effective and encourage the masses to administer the dose.
Many countries have been doing a lot to encourage their citizens to administer the third dose of Covid-19 vaccination.
There are several reasons that make it essential for an individual to take booster shots. It improves protection against Covid-19 infection and prevents severity and death from the virus.
Most physicians believe that by taking Covid-19 booster shots, infection from the virus could be prevented to a greater extent. In addition, it could decline the risk of death from the virus.
Dr. Sameer Bayat, a chest specialist at a private Kabul Hospital, said Covid-19 booster shots were effective as proven in countries that had started the administration of Covid-19 booster shots.
He asked people take Covid-19 booster shots in order to strengthen their immune system and decrease death risk from the respiratory virus.
He also urged people, who were yet to receive the jabs, to swiftly vaccinate themselves in order to prevent being infected by Covid-19.

Dr. Nabil Pakteen, an associate professor, also stressed the intake of Covid-19 booster shot and said it helped improve the immunity system of human body against Covid-19.
Human body immunity system gets weaker with the passage of time after receiving Covid-19 vaccine, he said, adding that the administration of booster shots further improve the immunity system against Covid-19.
He also asked masses to ensure all Covid-19 protocols are implemented such as wearing mask, social distance, washing hands and others.
Dr. JavidHazeez, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health, said the acting government had no issue with the implementation of Covid-19 booster shots, adding that it was being administered nation-wide.
He urged individuals who did not administer Covid-19 vaccine to refer to the closest health centre and vaccinate themselves against Covid-19.
It is pertinent to mention here that over 180,000 people have been infected by Covid-19 since its outbreak in Afghanistan. Over 160,000 have recovered while over 7,600 have died from the disease.
