QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Farmers in northwestern Badghis province have started growing Asafoetid --- a locally known natural herbal bush --- but they urge government support and cooperation in promotion of the plant’s cultivation.
Abdul Qodus Adel, 27, a farmer in Ghaib Ali area of Qades district, said: “For a long time I have been striving to grow an agriculture product which can earn me a decent profit.”
He said around three years ago another farmer persuaded him to grow Asafoetid and he planted its 70,000 saplings.
