OCHA lends financial support to Zabul Covid-19 Hospital

KABUL (Pajhwok): A Covid-19 Hospital in southern Zabul province operating smoothly after its financial woes were addressed by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), an official said.

Public Health Director Abdul Hakim Hakimi told Pajhwok Afghan News after the political change in the country the hospital was operating on little resources and support from businesspersons and common people but later the World Health Organization lend support to the hospital and provided the necessary resources for its operation.

He said a fresh contract had been inked with the UNOCHA which will provide salaries for the 50 personnel of the Hospital, and facilitate the provision of medicine, oxygen and other necessary materials.

The contract he said will be valid for the coming six months and would implement by the ADA organization in the area.

Hizbullah Yousufzai, head of the ADA organization, said they were trying to facilitate the Public Health Department in the construction area of the Hospitals besides other financial support for Covid-19 Hospital. He said ADA eyed to build some clinics in the area.

Health experts and members of different organizations assured the Health Department of full support and hoped that the health issues of poor people in the province would be addressed.

It is pertinent to mention that some personnel of Covid-19 Hospital and some aid-providing agencies officials were hailed by the Public Health Department at the gathering.
