ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Watermelon yield in eastern Kunar province generated $200 million this year, an official said on Sunday.
Agriculture Director Mawlavi Ezzatullah Hidayat told Pajhwok Afghan News that the farmers cultivated watermelon on 500 hectares and harvested around 42500 tons of watermelon.
He added that the watermelon crop jumped by 25 percent this year but did not comment about the last year’s yield figure.
Farmers demanded government’s support in the provision of refined seeds and chemical fertilizers.
