PUL-I-IKHUMRI CITY (Pajhwok): Farmers in northern Baghlan province have collected 450 metric tonnes of pistachio this year, an official said on Saturday.
Raz Mohammad Ahmadzai, a senior agriculture department official, recalled growers had harvested 300 metric tonnes of pistachio last year. This year, he said, the pistachio yield jumped to 450 metric tonnes.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, the official said locals had played an effective role in guarding forests and gave local authorities 21 tonnes of the fruit Ushr.
