JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 4,000 illiterate people attended a literacy course in the eastern Nangarhar province last year, an official said on Sunday.
Awal Gul Abu Zahid, head of the literacy training section at the Education Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the 4,000 uneducated people completed the literacy course in the province in 2021.
He said efforts were ongoing to provide speedy literacy to illiterate workers of different government departments.
Abu Zahid added: “Currently, we have 128 literacy centres. At six schools, we offer literacy training to uneducated adults and 50 more courses are offered in government institutions . . .
