MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Pine nuts yield has increased by 20 percent in two districts of central Kapisa province, an official said on Thursday.
Agriculture Department Director Mawlavi Rohullah Rohani said 336 tonnes of pine nuts collected from trees on 350 hectares of land in Nijrab and Alasai districts this year. The last year’s yield of the dry fruit was 280 tonnes.
According to Rohani, favorable weather condition and seasonal rains have increased the pine nuts yield.
Previously, the pine nuts were illegally exported to Pakistan and then the neighboring country exported it to other countries under own name, but . . .
