KABUL (Pajhwok): Chinese ambassador in Kabul Wang Yu has said his country would continue to support the caretaker government of Afghanistan as it considers relations between the two countries important.

Wang Yu said this during a meeting with acting Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul, wrote Hafiz Zia Ahmad, deputy spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, on his twitter page.

He said the two sides discussed a number of important issues. At the beginning, Wang Yu said his country supports the new caretaker government and would continue to look at the importance of the relationship between the two countries.

He also mentioned the aid pledges by his country in winter and said the aid would be distributed to the needy Afghans based on a mechanism in coordination with the relevant departments.

FM Muttaqi expressed his hope that relations between the two countries would further improve. He thanked China for its readiness to resume work on half-finished and new projects to help the Afghans.

He also praised China’s latest decision not to charge tariffs on 98 percent of Afghan goods being exported from Afghanistan.
