HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Saffron cultivated on a large scale land in most districts of western Herat province, an official said on Monday.
Deputy Agriculture Director Bashir ahmad Ahmadi said saffron yield will reach 25 tonnes in Herat this year adding that Afghanistan saffron has first place in the world for its quality and third place for its production volume.
He said currently 80 companies in Herat worked over the processing of saffron in which until now 20,000 people had been provided with jobs.
According to Ahmadi saffron produced in Afghanistan were sent to Iran from where it was exported . . .
