A tribal elder Halim Gul told Pajhwok Afghan News 40-kilometre road that connected Badpesh with Mehtarlam was damaged as a result residents are faced with several issues.

During the past government, the road was flatted but recent flash floods have damaged the road completely.

“Last winter, this road was closed for 15 days due to flash floods and heavy rainfall, unfortunately, two pregnant women died on their way to the hospital due to the unstable condition of the road,” he said.

Haji Mohammad Nasir, another tribal elder, said they often asked the government to construct this road but their requests were ignored.

“In winter no vehicles could travel on this road, we want the government to start the construction of this road at the beginning of summer.”

Mullah Mohammad Humayon Ahmadi, head of the Public Works Department, said the problem faced by the residents of Badpesh was shared with the acting PM’s Office for Economic Affairs.

“We are told that a commission had been tasked to start work on all half-completed projects,” he said.
