JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A 15-year-old feud between two families has been resolved through mediation of tribal elders in eastern Nanhargar province.
The enmity surfaced over a land dispute in the Lalpor district 15 years ago, resulting in the killing and injuring of several people.
Tribal elders, religious scholars, members of both families and officials attended the reconciliation ceremony in Chiknor village.
Lalpur District Chief Maulvi Sediqullah Mansour said tribal elders and religious scholars mediated between Miraajan and Yar Gul families and brought them to reconciliation and forgave each other.
Tribal elders and ulema talked about the value of peace and forgiveness and unity among the people.
In this meeting, both sides promised they will live brotherly after this.
Ajmal, a member of Malik Mirajan family, told Pajhwok both families’ youth could not go to school and they were deprived of pleasure of life, but now they were happy that the Jirga had succeeded.
He thanked the mediators and those striving to convert enmities into friendships among Afghans.
Since 2021, dozens of enmities have ben resoled by tribal elders and officials in the province.
