KABUL (Pajhwok): A newly-constructed bridge has been inaugurated in Dangam district of eastern Kunar province.
Kunar Governor Maulvi Qudratullah Abu Hamza told a gathering in this regard that the bridge was built in Dobindo area with financial support of the Ministry of Defense.
He said that the bridge was approximately 31 meters long and six meters wide and its construction consumed over 18 million afghanis.
The governor was happy the bridge provided transportation facility to thousands of people in Dobindo area.
Mohammad Yousuf, a tribal elder of the area, told Pajhwok that his villagers previously faced many problems in the absence of a bridge as they would sometimes remained stuck for days due to rising water level in the stream.
He urged the government and aid-giving organizations to pay more heed to development activities in Dangam district.
