KABUL (Pajhwok): The Customs Department has procured eight firefighting vehicles valued at more than $2 million to mitigate the risk of fire incidents at customs facilities nationwide, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) said on Thursday.
According to a MoF statement, the vehicles were manufactured in 2025 and each has a water-carrying capacity of 1,000 liters.
The firefighting units will be deployed to the customs offices in Hairatan, Aqina, Nangarhar, Herat, Farah, Nimroz, and Kandahar.
The procurement was carried out under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. The total cost of the project—$2.036 million—was financed through the Ministry of Finance’s development budget, the statement added.
