KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has asked its member countries to contribute to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund (AHTF).
The 57-member bloc held a two-day summit in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, urging members states to redouble their efforts at mobilizing the international community’s responsibility towards stopping the genocide in Palestine.
The summit held under the theme: ‘Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development’ from Saturday to Sunday
OIC Secretary-General Hissein Taha noted that the organization continued its engagement within the framework of its humanitarian approach and constructive dialogue with the Afghan officials.
He urged the member states to contribute generously to the OIC humanitarian efforts, particularly in Afghanistan, through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund (AHTF) under the supervision and management of the Islamic Development Bank.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi also attended the summit on IEA behalf.
The ministry said the caretaker government’s delegation would meet and discuss with OIC officials bilateral and multilateral issues. They will also meet representatives from member countries on the sidelines of the gathering.
