JALALABAD (Pajhwok): As many as 20 girls’ schools in Behsud and Surkhrod districts and Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, have been equipped with the Internet facility, an official said on Monday.

Mohammad Asif Shinwari, the education department spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News foreign NGOs and some telecommunication companies assisted them in the installation of the facility.

He said with the availability of Internet, students could better deal with future challenges in the area of information technology. The Internet had opened new ways of research and development, he added.

Nasira, one of the students, said: “Now I get help from the Internet as far as my homework and preparation for lessons is concern, I don’t need help from textbooks anymore.”

Heli, a student of the Bibi Hawa High School, said over the past three months she had been learning how to use the internet.
