KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday said 160 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours nationwide.
The ministry in a statement said 1,593 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 160 people, pushing the overall tally to 52,007.
The source said that 46 cases were detected in Herat, 27 in Kabul, 25 in Takhar, 11 in Paktia, 10 in Nangarhar and Badghis each, four in Baghlan, Laghman, Kunar, Khost, Faryab and Nuristan each, three in Maidan Wardak and Panjsher each, and one in Kandahar province over the past 24 hours.
At least 391 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 41,331.
At least 12 people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 2,170.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
