QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Participants of a roundtable, organized by Pajhwok Afghan News and aired on Nariman Radio, have stressed that efforts should be made to end violence and conflict among people for lasting peace and stability in the country.

The 41-munite discussion, funded by United Nations Development Program (UNDP), was aired on Wednesday at 8:15am and will be repeated at 3:15pm on Sunday. The programme will be broadcast again on Friday (2:15pm) and Wednesday (8:15am).

In this radio program, the guests underlined that peace was a basic need of the Afghan society and stressed that violence and conflict must be permanently eradicated from the society.

Ghulam Sakhi, a tribal leader of the people of Badghis province, who was present at the event, stressed that in order to ensure peace, stability and tranquility in society, the spirit of unity, sincerity and compassion among people must be strengthened and the scope of disbelief eliminated.

Saeed Agha, a poet and writer from Badghisi and another participant of this round table, also said that during the violence in the country, no sphere of life, especially the cultural part, was left unharmed. Agha stressed that peace can be restored and the country rebuilt and modernized.

Haroon Shah Shafiq, a young educated man from Badghis, also said in the program that the people of Afghanistan should all play their role in strengthening peace and stability in the country.

He added: “Young people are used as fuel in the war throughout history and have suffered a lot; therefore, the youth and educated class should be recruited in the various bodies of the system.”
