Some people complain deceit by agents in migration cases

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some people have complained against growing migration related fraud saying thousands of their dollars were embezzled on the bases of fake promises agents and some companies that they will be transferred to foreign nations.

Thousands of individuals managed to go abroad through evacuation process after the fall of the past government. These were individuals who worked with the foreign forces in Afghanistan in the past and felt insecure under the new regime.

One of the main conditions for the evacuation of Afghans to foreign countries was that settlement in the third country mainly Pakistan or Iran.

Migration advertisement by foreign countries attracted Afghan youth due to unemployment, curbs on women education and work and every individual strived to make sure they could migrate through every possible mean.

This comes that that capacity of countries accepting migrants was low while the demand was very high.

Deception:

Pashtana, the resident of Kart-i-Naw area in Kabul, said: “Some time ago, one of my brother’s acquaintances took 5,000 dollars from us and said that he would officially transfer my brother to Germany, he took my brother to Iran and said that he would take him from there to Moscow and from Moscow to Germany, but unfortunately he took the money and disappeared.”

She added the agent told them that they will get education visa for her brother.

Mohammad Hussain, another Kabul resident is striving to go abroad and over the past one year he had been exploring different options to go abroad to one of the foreign countries.

He added: “After the takeover of the IEA government I faced many problems because there is no work and I strive to take myself and my family out of Afghanistan.”

He said some countries like Germany, Brazel, Canada and others have opened special websites accepting migrants and people who are feeling unsafe in Afghanistan.

According to Hussain these announcements opened way for some people to misuse people and take their money.

“Me and my some friends went through this experience, we submitted our documents to some institutions, they took our money. I sold my property and now searching for my case of going abroad,” he added.

A female journalist, who wished to go unnamed, said: “A group formed by some women journalist informed me that the transfer of women journalists from Afghanistan to Germany is spearheaded by a lawyer who don’t charge fee so I submitted my documents.”

She added every girl in this group established contact with that lawyer who demanded 150,000 afs.

The middleman asked every girl individually for money and documents and each girl provided money and documents to take their case forward. He established separate contact with each girl and told them not to inform others.

She said after two months, the same person had told them and other girls to go to the neighboring country but in Pakistan when they could not established contact with the person they wanted because he disappeared.

Filling of Form:

A website named Kabulluftbrucke published a topic regarding the filling of new Kabulluftbrucke forms and said if anyone faced problems in filling forms could refer to them.

Also another website published an announcement regarding registration of cases for traveling to Germany, Canada, France, US, UK, Brazel, Italy and Australia filling of registration forms and getting a confirmation e-mail from that particular country.

Individuals form filling is charged 500 while family form filling is charged 1000 afs and the money is taken after the form is dispatched to the relevant address in the particular country.

One of the employees of these companies told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Information like name, surname, province, photograph, NIC, contacts No, previous job, current job and e-mail address is required.”

He added these cases are referred to countries like Germany, Canada, France, US, UK, Brazel, Italy and Australia, adding that after the complete information are sent a confirmation e-mail is received.

He said the confirmation is at the hand of a particular county some cases are approved in weeks and some in months.

But Economic Affairs Expert Shakir Yaqoubi, said people should take every step carefully, adding that people should give their money to people who are fraud.

“Countries do not have contact with any kind of unofficial organization for accepting refugees, except for a number of well-known and reliable organizations that actually operate inside the same countries, some organizations claim, virtual pages and websites that are active on virtual pages, work for accepting refugee cases. It is baseless and deceptive,” he said.

People who trust such sites have a low level of awareness about the refugee situation, and the activities of such institutions, organizations and social sites do not have any kind of credibility and security assurance that will accelerate their refugee process.

Yaqoubi said that European countries have clearly said that in accepting refugees, during the steps of the asylum process and document verification, no kind of cost is paid to the refugees, any kind of cost and money charged by unofficial organizations is completely baseless.
