MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Two families have ended their 40-year-old enmity in the Nijrab district of central Kapisa province.

A gathering marking reconciliation between the families of Nawab Khan and Saddam was held in Mahmood Raqi, the provincial capital.

Governor Qari Ehsanullah Baryalai said: “It’s a pleasure for us to show the world our victory in combat and in peacetime, as well as our ability to resolve rifts among Muslims.”

He stressed the need for unity and cohesion among Muslims. The elimination of differences and prejudices was the need of the hour, he said.

Sheikh Maulvi Ehsanullah, chief of Ulema Council, hailed peace and reconciliation between the families as a good achievement of the Islamic Emirate government.

“The ground for peace and reconciliation between families and the end of differences has been paved by the sacrifices of mujahideen,” he commented.

Maulvi Sediqullah Sayyad, director of border affairs, welcomed the end to the enmity, saying: “My department has been able to resolve 42 such disputes in more than one year.”
